Cybertelecom-Announce -- Cybertelecom-L News and Announcements

About Cybertelecom-Announce
English (USA)

Cybertelecom-L-Announce is a mailing list for people who wish to receive the daily news summaries and other items of interest gleaned from the world of Federal Internet Law and Regulation.

Because it is an "Announce" list, only the list owner may post to the list. However, if you have news items that you believe are worthy of reposting to the list, please send them to the list and they will be reviewed by the owner for potential reposting.

If you are interested in participating in discussions on related topics, please join our sister list, Cybertelecom-l@listserv.aol.com, by sending email to listserv@listserv.aol.com, with the text of your message reading: SUBSCRIBE CYBERTELECOM-L Your Name.

The Cybertelecom-L listserv is for the discussion of federal regulatory issues and initiatives impacting the Internet, while the Announce list is for news summaries and short items of interest. The Cybertelecom-L-Announce list is inherently low volume, consisting of no more than a couple of posts per day; the Cybertelecom-L is a bit busier, with discussions on a wide range of issues.

The two lists have the combined goal of creating a resource and discussion space for the Internet Community to discuss, debate, and receive notice of such issues as:

  • Section 706
  • The access charge debate
  • The continued viability of the Enhanced Service Provider status
  • Tariffs, and access to tariff information
  • DSL, ISDN, and LADS lines
  • Competition and negotiations with telephone companies
  • Interconnection
  • Comparably Efficient Interconnection and Open Network Architecture
  • Becoming a competitive local exchange carrier
  • Universal Service and the Internet
  • SUPERNet and Wireless Internet
  • Notice of upcoming regulatory proceedings and how to participate
  • Pending telecommunications legislation

The scope of the discussion is federal initiatives (regulation, grants, policy, procurement) impacting the Internet, with a special focus on federal communications regulation.

Both lists are open to Internet service providers, Internet industry, Internet trade associations, public interest groups, scholars, professionals, and all other interested parties.
