Abusing The DMCA To Take Down Any Content, Techdirt,
11/2/2006
This has been quite a week for stories about people
abusing the DMCA. Earlier, we had the story of a
company that was abusing the DMCA to hunt down
critics. In that case, they were using the fact that
you can use the DMCA to send a subpoena without
actually proving there's any infringing material, and
often companies will give up IP address info once they
get the subpoena.

CCIA Scores Congress on Technology Votes, CCIA,
11/2/2006
CCIA’s High-Tech Scorecard examined seven important
votes in the House of Representatives where, on
average, Members voted with industry and consumers
about 60% of the time. Congress failed to move on
numerous bills of critical importance to high-tech
companies. Patent and copyright reform in particular
got short shrift, even as junk patents impeded
innovators everywhere and outdated copyright laws
threatened to cripple the next generation of new media
devices.
