Joe Lieberman Sells Out the Internet, Isen, 10/17/2006

I just got a letter from my senator, Joe Lieberman,
dated Oct. 6, that indicates that he's completely
flaking on network neutrality and other key telecom
reforms. The letter says that he supports the
principle of net neutrality, but underneath the
letter's tricky language he's saying that he will vote
for the telecom industry's telecom bill (S. 2686), the
bill approved by the Senate Commerce Committee last
summer without any net neutrality provision.

Joint Statement by House Commerce Chairman Barton and
Senate Commerce Chairman Stevens on AT&T-BellSouth
Merger, Senate, 10/17/2006
We are concerned by the Commission's failure to act on
the application this week after such a thorough review
and a complete record. We certainly hope that the
delays requested by Members of the Commission are
substantive in nature, although the Commission has had
ample time to debate the merits of AT&T's acquisition
of BellSouth.
