not be a good business decision, DSLreports,
10/23/2007

Why a Net Neutrality Law is Not Enough, CircleID,
10/23/2007
Once we decide that Network Neutrality is a good thing
to (re)enshrine in law, then we need to ask how to do
that effectively. One way would be to pass a law
saying, "Thou shalt not discriminate." That's the
current approach. But network operators will say that
they must manage their network, and if, in the course
of network management, they were to disadvantage some
source, destination, application, service or content,
they might be accused of violating the law. So any
Network Neutrality law must have a Network Management
Exception...

Comcast Traffic Jamming Heats Net Neutrality Debate,
Ecommerce Times, 10/23/2007
Comcast actively interferes with attempts by some of
its high-speed Internet subscribers to share files
online, a move that runs counter to the tradition of
treating all types of Net traffic equally. The
interference, which the Associated Press confirmed
through nationwide tests, is the most drastic example
yet of data discrimination by a U.S. Internet service
provider.

Associated Press Confirms That Comcast Blocks Some
BitTorrent Traffic; Despite Comcast Denials, Techdirt,
10/23/2007
Back in August, there was a report that Comcast was
throttling certain types of BitTorrent traffic making
it difficult to impossible to seed a download. In
response, Comcast vehemently denied this was
happening, despite many people saying they were
experiencing it. Specifically, Comcast said: "the
company doesn't actively look at the applications or
content that its customers download over the network.
But Comcast does reserve the right to cut off service
to customers who abuse the network by using too much
bandwidth." The EFF went and spoke with Comcast and
got the same story.

Dallas Cowboys Return Cowboys.com After Thinking The
Price Was $275 Instead Of $275,000, Techdirt,
10/23/2007
The domain name business is hot again, driving up the
price of popular domains names, sometimes to
ridiculous levels. However, it appears that no one
briefed the Dallas Cowboys on what these types of
things typically cost. The owner of the domain
cowboys.com recently sold it in a domain auction, with
the winning bid of $275,000 going to the Cowboys.
Apparently, on receiving the invoice, the Dallas
Cowboys are claiming that it was a mistake -- they
thought the bid had been for $275, not $275,000 -- and
therefore, they wish to cancel the sale.

AT&T Sues Vonage - And the saga continues, DSLreports,
10/23/2007
In the continuing round of lawsuits involved Vonage
and claims of patent infringement, AT&T has chimed in
and filed suit. The company claims that Vonage
willfully infringed an AT&T patent related to VoIP
services. Perhaps AT&T is just hoping that Vonage will
settle out of court, as the company did earlier this
month in a similar case with Sprint.
